| The third Darnhill Festival was the biggest and best so far. In tribute to the summer of sport, this was the Three Lions festival with a sporting theme running through the stunning carnival troupes in the procession, accompanied in rousing fashion by the percussive zest of Bloco Novo and the jumping jive of Blowjangles. On the festival site at Heywood Community High School there was a full programme of entertainment, which ended sooner than usual owing to the clash with England’s World Cup quarter final game. New features included the Sketchcity graffiti art workshops, the Oldham Youth Service Xpress Media bus and the successful transfer of the dance showcase onto the main stage. As usual there was a fantastic variety of workshops running up to the Festival, many of which led to performances on the day. |
