This is a new step for Cartwheel, developing a body of work examining issues of displacement, loyalty, identity and belonging.  This could involve taking a literal interpretation through work with refugees, prisoners and their families, people with mental health problems, homeless people or looked after children– groups for whom the idea of home is very potent and possibly troubling. But we will also examine broader issues – the elements of our identities which bind communities and groups together, but also divide our society. We will look at the loyalties and rivalries inspired by sport, religion, ethnicity, fashion and music – do you want to be in our gang? We are very open to suggestions for projects which develop this theme, so if you have an idea please get in touch.
