Tell Us Another One is a 3-year adventure in storytelling and creative writing and is running in the Darnhill (Heywood), Langley (Middleton) and Spotland and Deeplish (Rochdale) areas. Whether you enjoy telling stories to your children, fancy yourself as a bestselling writer, or simply love to share a great yarn with friends, Tell Us Another One has something for you.

We run Story Groups in each of the above areas. These are for adults aged 18+ to come along and have a go at storytelling and writing activities and workshops, meet writers and poets and, most importantly, have loads of fun! No previous writing experience is necessary to get involved – just a love of stories! Recent visiting writers who have entertained us and shared their pearls of wisdom on the craft of writing include poet and script writer Anjum Malik, Heywood-born Helen Clare and children’s writer Irene Farrimond.  Visits by inspiring writers are always in the pipeline.

Tell Us Another One also publishes a quarterly story magazine called Scribble which you can download from the resource area of this site.  So if you’d like to have your words considered for publication, or you’d like to subscribe, get in touch!

We also run mini-projects which have included the Tangerines, Air Raids and Santamobiles Christmas story project in Darnhill; the Dress Code fashion story magazine full of new work on the theme of dress and fashion by both professional and emerging writers (out this spring!), and A Guide to Living in Langley, a wide reaching writing and storytelling workshop programme with community groups right across the estate, working towards a new book (also out this spring).  Our monthly poetry open mic night at The Olde Boar’s Head pub in Middleton continues to go from strength to strength, attracting participants from across the Greater Manchester area, as does our Homelands project with Rochdale’s African communities.  The ‘sell out’ Homelands book has sparked off a schools tour with our amazing storytellers visiting GCSE and A Level French classes across the area.

If you want to find out more about Tell Us Another One or get involved in any of the activities, contact Kim Haygarth at Cartwheel Arts on 01706 361300 or via kim@cartwheelarts.org.uk.
