Tell Us Another One

Tell Us Another One (TUAO) is our creative writing project.  We run monthly 'Story Groups for grown ups' across Rochdale, Oldham and Bury.  Check out the schedule on the left to see if there's a Story Group running in your area and find out more under 'What's it all about?' below.  We also run 'mini' projects within TUAO which lead to published books such as My Magic Pen and Games Gone By (coming soon to our Resources section!)

We now have a dedicated Tell Us Another One website

Click on the blue to see it!

It's still in development so watch it grow over the summer and see contributions from our groups right across Bury, Oldham and Rochdale.

Scribble Festival

took place on 13th July at Rochdale Town Hall as part of the Arts Feel Good Festival and was a huge success, with writers from across the North West giving their best perfomances after 6 workshops on the theme of families.  There was food, live music from the fabulous bluesy Zacc Rogers and chat and a good time was had by all.

The Autumn edition of Scribble magazine is now available.

Packed with poems and short stories

on the theme of CROSSING LINES ,

the magazine is brimming with inspiration for budding wrtiers

and those who fancy dipping their toe for the first time.

So what are you waiting for?

Click here to check it out!

We are still pleased to be working with writers Anjum Malik and Shamshad Khan.  Anjum and Shamshad both come with extensive experience of creative writing through their own published work and in helping communities to enjoy telling stories.

Anjum delivers the monthly Story Groups in Deeplish (Rochdale) and Seedfield (Bury), Shamshad in Spotland (Rochdale) and Coldhurst (Oldham).  Come along and see them in action!

What's it all about?

The Story Groups are the chance to have a go at storytelling and poetry, to meet professional writers and have some fun!  We also run additional smaller projects, such as Winter Spells and Smells - our winter extravaganza for the 2010 Darnhill Christmas Festival and Heywood Active Families, where we are contributing a children's book and activity cards into a pack for local families.  We publish a quarterly magazine - Scribble and hold annual writing festivals.

If you would like to get involved in the project, simply come along to a Story Group or for more information contact Emma at Cartwheel Arts on 01706 361300 / emma@cartwheelarts.org.uk

_______

We will soon be creating a separate web site for Tell Us Another One which will have a number of interactive features as the project develops, so watch this space!

You can still download the beautiful publications created over the first 3 years of the project in the Publications section of the Resource page on our website. We may also be able to post publications to you, please contact us for further details.

And finally... to hear how writing can come to life, Write Out Loud continue with their much-loved monthly open mic nights.  See their home page for details - www.writeoutloud.net There's info about lots of other great writing and performing opportunities listed there too.

That's all for now folks, happy writing!
