Mosaic of the MIND

Over 12 weeks, artist Josephine Gornall worked with a group of adults, the Expressive Minds Arts Group, to create a large mosaic for the Comple@t Internet Cafe, in Middleton, Manchester. The mosaic represents what the cafe and its facilities means to them.

The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Jean Hornby, who laid the first tile on the mosaic in November 2006 at the cafe’s launch, unveiled the mosaic at a celebration event on Valentines Day 2007.

Niki Duthie, Cartwheel Arts’ Projects Coordinator, said “ The group have been wonderful to work with, they have created the mosaic with great thought and care. I know that The Expressive Minds Arts Group will continue to meet and hope to build on their newly acquired skills and confidence and try other art forms in the future.”
