Background

This resource supports those who care for people with dementia, and was developed in two phases. The first phase saw practitioners from Cartwheel Arts & Small Things Creatives meeting with older residents across Rochdale borough, and inviting them to share memories of growing up, school days, work, and leisure activities, with each group meeting twice to capture a wealth of material. The second phase trialled the resource in care homes in Langley, Deeplish and Balderstone.

Training

We offer training sessions for care staff and community workers, which will teach participants how to run their own dementia friendly activities and workshops, inspiring imaginative responses and evoking memories, creating shared experiences, strengthened mental capacity and improved self-esteem and confidence.

Costings start at £800 for a full day training for up to 12 practitioners, including a Resource Book full of activities and things to deliver.

This does not include venue hire or refreshments.

If you are interested in providing each participant with a Resource Box full of materials, props, and resources to deliver the activities, this can be quoted additionally
